StoryShare

This four-way exchange brings story to life through the arts. It all starts with a local true story that gets interpreted as a piece of fiction or creative nonfiction, which gets translated into a piece of visual art, and ends up with a live performance by CU Boulder Playback Theatre.

The goal is to bring various segments of the community together through the power of story!

STORYTELLING

The metamorphosis begins when a community member shares a story from their family’s life and how they have been able to stay in our area through all the changes that have occurred throughout the years.

CREATIVE WRITING

A writer listens to the story and then transforms the original tale into a work of fiction or creative nonfiction.

ARTISTIC VISUALIZATION

A visual artist creates an image based on the story. There are adult and student writers and visual artists who participate in this. The student and adult writers will read their written works, the visual artist will show their artwork and describe their process.

INTERPRETIVE PERFORMANCE

To add a further dimension to the transformation process, we are fortunate to host CU Boulder Playback Theatre to perform their own interpretation of the initial story.
